2003. Rossimania

The World Championships climaxed once more in Valencia. The MotoGP and 125cc categories had already been decided in favour of Valentino Rossi and the injured Dani Pedrosa, so the only category still in play was that of 250cc. The title was finally won by Manuel Poggiali, who was victorious in his rivalry with Roberto Rolfo.
However, the real stars of the Grand Prix were elsewhere. Héctor Barberá ended his career with Team Aspar, fighting for first place against Casey Stoner in the lightweight category. The great Valentino Rossi won first place in Valencia for the first time, on the same day that he abandoned Honda for Yamaha.
The crowd took the leading role at the Grand Prix, when it formed the largest mosaic in the world to protest against violence in sport; this human mosaic was entered into the Guinness Book of Records.
